iPhone iOS ’86

No, it’s not the some kind of hyper-futuristic conceptual look of iOS in 2050. It’s much more impressive. Anton Repponen is a designer from New York and Stockholm (Globetrotter that he is…) that took the visual characteristics of the classic Mac OS and used it in his redesign of the iOS iPhone software. It’s quite amusing and it somehow gives your iPhone a whole different dimension even though it’s a pretty simple blend between the old and the new. Unfortunately for those who are eagerly reading on for a download link, I’ll have to disappoint you. The iOS ’86 was just a visual way for him to answer his question; what if Apple came up with the iPhone back in the 80′s or 90′s? Read on to check it out.

Manic’s Merrymaking Must-Haves

You wouldn’t expect that so much awesome shit would come from a country – Hell, is it even a country? – like Singapore. You would say that when we’re talking about clever design, size doesn’t matter, and in this case, it certainly isn’t. Earlier we mentioned an agency that came up with a clever brand positioning for something simple as an eatery. Manic on the other hand, has designed their own christmas kit (including content!) to give it as a gift to their own crew. Talking about taking care for your fellow colleagues. Check out the continuing page for a full preview. Via

Five & Dime Brand Identity

If there’s one thing that a retail store, shop, coffee or lunch room can make me fall in love with, that would be branding. Bravo Company was assigned to brand the Five & Dime Eatery in Singapore. They came up with a simple idea that refers to the US coin and a variety store that sold everything for 5 or 10 cents. In conjunction with some low-priced items that fit the positioning, they managed to give the eatery a certain degree of class but still keeping it simple and practical. Check out Bravo’s other work as well, they have a real distinct, but clever and classy way of branding their clients. Via

Some who may work in advertising or are familiar with the advertising industry has heard of David Ogilvy, better yet, worship David Ogilvy. Having established and built one of the largest advertising network in the world , he’s worth the tribute. Ogilvy Chicago made an impressive, but simple homage to the once and always, ad-hero that is David Ogilvy.

Bertelli / Biciclette Assemblate

I usually do not feature fixie’s like this, but did I find a son of a gem of a bike. Assembled by hand, fine-tuned with a mash up of brand new and real vintage parts, you can get yourself a bike curated by New York’s finest. I would also recommend to check out his other bikes as well, each one of them a piece of art. Click on more for a detailed look.

Mixtape 2.0

The Finnish boys from Majasalmi came up with this very original application that turns your iPhone  into a cassette player. AirCassette is easy to say the Instagram or Hipstamatic of all the mobile music applications and brings back the 80′s feeling of creating your own mixtapes and swapping it with your buds.
