Advertorial: Power to Generation M

I am a sucker for empowering and inspiring video’s that have a great story to tell, throw the term ‘short film’ in the equation and you’ve got yourself your bite-sized cinematic thought-provokers. To celebrate the launch of the brand new Canon EOS M, Canon selected and gathered 5 unique talents, of which among them is the founder of one my favorite blogs, iGNANT.de. The series of short films reveals each of them sharing their vision on modern photography whilst on their journey on creating their own original photographical works. The dynamics and the different perspectives on photography was what intrigued me the most and may offer everyone with affinity to photography with a valuable source of inspiration. Get yourself inspired: The complete ‘Power to Generation M’ series can be viewed on Vice.

Awesome Beer Commercial

I haven’t seen a good beer commercial for a while until now. It’s fairly long but totally worth your time. Just press the play button. I assure you. You won’t regret it.

Horitaka’s Taming The Dragon with Barcadi Dragonberry

Bacardi seems to be on a roll lately. Avid followers may be familiar with the epic party marathon they are currently running, but to bring a fresh breath of air to the dragon that is used by the Bacardi Dragonberry, they’ve invited a Japanese Tattoo Master, Horitaka, to give the most important “animal” in the Japanese culture – the dragon – a fresh new, utterly killer look. To celebrate this event, VICE.com will pick one lucky chap that will receive ‘the mark of a master’.

The Future Is Ours

Not many people are aware of the fact that we’re living in a time where exciting things are about to happen. We’re on the verge of seeing the world rapidly change. Interesting things are lurking around the corner. The future is ours.

Never stop dreaming.

Camera Craftsmanship

There’s a reason why people pay immens sums of money for a beautifully, hand-crafted camera such as that of Leica. The piece of beauty that’s being assembled in the video is a limited edition Leica camera for Hermès to celebrate the friendship and collaboration with Jean-Louis Dumas, the former president of Hermès. However, it got me sitting behind the screen with awe and teary eyes of joy as I went through the whole thing. I was more or less aware of Leica’s background, but this video has given me a genuine appreciation for what Leica does and their passion for authentic craftsmanship.

On Creativity

I’m a sucker for inspirational videos and more of a sucker if they’re short. You know what they say in advertising about copy (hell, even with programming) “the shorter, the better”. On Creativity is therefore the perfect example what I’m trying to say; bite-sized inspiration. Other then trying to investigate the true meaning behind creativity, On Creativity is all about exploring the divergence of creativity. The many point of views that many talented creatives have on creativity and how they see it and have them explain it in their own words. It may confuse you and it’s quite thought-provoking, but at the end of it, you will learn that creativity is more then what you thought it was. Among them is my hero AND the original advertising Mad Men, George Lois (see video), the “fifth Ramones” Arturo Vega, cartoonist Al Jaffee and many more.

Beautiful Sushi

For many among us food is all about how it tastes like rather than how it looks like. How many times have you ordered those rolled up type of seaweed sushi or in other words “Makizushi” (Yes, I’ved looked it up!) and ended up with the same cylinder shaped roll? The Japanese ad-agency I&S BBDO came up with a very creative idea and used a laser-cut method to create gorgeous, polished, pattern-like seaweed sheets where each pattern is based from Japanese history that represents happiness, good fortune and longevity. If you’re interesting on buying a pack, check out their Facebook for more information!
